Boost Soaring House Prices With Kerbside Appeal

Stephen Turnbull • June 14, 2022

House prices are increasing at an unprecedented rate, but thanks to a shortage of properties being put on the market, you could increase your home’s value even more by improving its kerbside appeal.

Average property values reached £289,099 in May, rising by 10.5 per cent over the preceding 12 months. Although this is still a significant increase of more than £28,000 from May 2021, it is actually the slowest annual rate of growth since the start of the year.

In fact,
Halifax revealed that property values have risen by as much as 74 per cent since 2012, meaning houses now worth £289,099 were valued at £166,148 just ten years ago, giving homeowners an average profit of £122,851 over the decade.

Even though this annual £12,295 increase is likely to be higher than homeowners anticipated when they bought their property, there are always ways to boost the value even higher.

Indeed, in doing so, they will be able to afford more from their next house purchase, which would have also risen in price considerably over the years.

One of the best ways to increase the asking price is to improve how it looks from the outside. While lots of homeowners focus on updating the interior of the home, the outside is the first thing people see when they view a property.

Therefore, having a shabby garden, a broken roof, an old door, and an overgrown drive will instantly put them off the purchase.

On the other hand, a well-kept lawn, blossoming plants, a gravel driveway, clean windows, and a roof with no missing tiles will make your home more appealing to potential buyers.
