Why Autumn Is Ideal Time For New Patio

Stephen Turnbull • September 1, 2022

Lots of homeowners find themselves in a rush to make their garden immaculate before the summer arrives, so they can enjoy social gatherings easily and have their children make the most of their outdoor space during the hot months. However, sometimes households do not realise there are problems with their patio, decking or lawn until summer is here, which is why autumn is also a good time to consider having work done.

Although your decking or patio might have looked alright in springtime, it is often only after you use it every day that you notice faults with it. For instance, you might not have realised your decking is rotting away quickly when you have not used it all winter.

Similarly, you may have been unaware of patio slabs that have slipped or are broken until you trip over it on a daily basis.

Alternatively, you might have tried to make repairs to the flooring yourself before the summer months, and have just realised your DIY job wasn’t up to scratch.

Real Homes reports that botched home improvement projects in the garden are extremely common. Calum Maddock from HomeHow told the publication: “If you’re no good at DIY, don’t try and botch a job of repairing or laying brick patio.”

Instead, he suggested: “Hire a professional. It will look better, last longer and save you money in the long run.”

You might have also gotten into the habit of letting your dog pee on your decking, which can lead to the wood rotting, so much so that you now need to replace it.
